A few updates

San José - We spend the majority of our outreach helping kids with their homework. Next week we expand from two to four days a week. Parents are pleased to see their children's grades improve and thankful to have someone helping out in this area. They in turn are agreeing to help fix up the place we rent by replacing broken windows, adding curtains and keeping the place clean week after week. More and more we see opportunities opening up to enter the lives of families and share the love of God with them.

Church - We are involved with counseling for couples, having just completed our first mentoring with a younger couple in doing a marriage inventory and followup sessions. What a blessing to invest in the lives of key believers as they work through some of the basics of communication, finances, roles, child rearing, etc. We continue to assist with young adults, children´s ministry, worship and church maintenance. The church has been growing and deepening relationships and having a greater thirst for prayer and intimacy with God.

Summer activities - This summer we are looking to organize some construction trips to jump start work on a retreat center 20 minutes outside of Tenancingo. The idea is to have a place for groups of up to 20 people spend a few days meditating, worshiping, praying and having some time away from the city. In the future, this can be extended to bless pastors from the region who might need to take a few days to rest. 

School involvement - This past year Matthew has been closely involved in Samuel and Rebeca´s primary school, serving as PTA treasurer. This has been a big open door to interact with administration, parents, teachers, janitors and others and share about our faith in Christ.
